They can write all the "Diversity" and code of conduct statements they wish, but if they refuse to do anything to enforce them, then what is the point @IMC_Leeds
If the org. in the end is up to the final decision of the director, the org. organization is also a question (rather like the questions that arise at #kzoo). I would also note that I didn't bring up the idea of the org and new voices, you did.

I do not see the point of saying one shouldn't critique
@IMC_Leeds if you are saying new voices changes things but then say they are not responsible for this issue. You can't have it both ways, either it's the director or it's the entire org including the planning committee. -
The issue is structural but it has been funneled through one decision maker/director. Why it's that way is also a structural issue. Maybe a different structure would address these things with more forethought and/or not wait a year or unless public critique happens.
