@JonathanHsy and @dorothyk98 altered my outlook forever with their roundtable-type discussion on decolonising medieval studies at IMC 2017. Also - slightly different - but watching the lectures of Alison Findlay and @earlymodatLancs while at Lancaster taught me a huge amount.

@IMC_Leeds that was the year that the German organizer screamed at@JonathanHsy and I am also never going back b/c they refused to take my security concerns seriously. So I doubt something like that will happen in the future.#IMC20192 replies 1 retweet 10 likes -

So it's lovely that it was a crucial intellectual/ideological moment, but this is not going to really happen anytime again now or in the future if the
@IMC_Leeds conference & its organizer refuse to address security and inclusivity seriously.2 replies 1 retweet 11 likes -

If nothing else, what happened to collegiality, I sent three separate emails on the day before I had to do my sessions worrying about security because of what had happened at two other medieval conferences. I received not one reply from the organizer.

I was dealing w/ the aftermath of a bunch of stuff in July & August so I haven't had a chance to discuss this more extensively. Though, if people want to know why I keep referencing @SLevelt it's b/c I was staying at his place for Leeds last year, so he witnessed it all.
