Saw yet another “elitist Black academics” Tweet and snickered. Neither of my sisters went to undergrad. They both own businesses and *one outearns me.* (You read that right.)

Literally my entire generation saw my journey and started their own businesses. “Big sis/cousin Ebony went to school fifty eleven years and IS STILL BROKE.” Man, these 1980s born Millennials are doing better than I am... they skipped the student debt.

Education is a good thing. It doesn’t necessarily mean you‘ll outearn those without it if you had to take out student loans. That’s why I’m not mad at the rising sentiment toward debt cancellation.

Those elitist Blackademics that give Black Twitter grief are a myth. Actual Black elitists with money aren’t building Twitter platforms. (See also: anti blue check sentiment... when we got these checks? We weren’t sent a check!

My family and friends back home are super proud of me. They also wonder when the hell I am going to earn some real money.

Omg this is my mother...there was a certain point when all of were in school and she complained about the fact that no one was making enough money to send her upkeep money. She was like what is the point of all this school.
