Was supposed to be on a Twitter hiatus but need to vent about institutions failing their students, particularly women, of color. But this is partially my fault for going to a PWI and expecting an executive committee of white folks to act “in my best interest.”

The gag is if I had transfered, I still would’ve found myself caught up in some institutional nonsense at a different school.

This situation isn’t entirely my fault. It’s not entirely my program’s fault. It’s also an institutional failing that the Academy doesn’t often offer the appropriate training for our grad students of color.

I have a lot of thoughts which are very rant-y & tbh I’m still trying to decide how much of this to put out on Twitter, but just know I’m very concerned about how white scholars invested in practice over policy believe that their “practices” are in the best interest of POCs.

I don’t know what I thought was going to happen. It was basically framed as a lapse in institutional memory and was told “I know it can be patronizing to be told something is in your best interest” and was preceded to be spoon fed that.
