When white people say ‘we can’t let x (overwhelmingly white) journal or discipline or program fail’ I think ‘that’s funny, because you’re sure comfortable actively forcing Indigenous students, staff, and faculty out and naming it as their own personal failure’

I think about this a lot. The discourse of “saving” a field conveniently ignores valuing/retaining those who are always pushed out

I saw Hortense Spillers last Saturday discuss the negative work necessary to correct the record/archive/field/discipline and then the work of building something different simultaneously. Double work is exhausting. But I was happy she named & explained what is going on.
