#RaceB4Race makes me proud to have co-edited a book for @acmrs_org. Following these tweets from afar and participating in a planning symposium earlier this month for an ASSC conference on OE + Af Am studies at Columbia in September has been really exciting. https://twitter.com/jeffreyjcohen/status/1086608499360948224 …

With all due respect Erica I’m afraid you’re missing the point.
#RaceB4Race (and its community and ethos) — and the conversations happening here, if you actually read and reflect on them — are not about “making you proud.” Please don’t use us/this to claim cultural capital.1 reply 0 retweets 9 likes -

Hi! Yes, I can definitely see how my tweet misses the mark. I'm so sorry that I framed it that way and will work harder to center the voices of scholars of color going forward instead. Thank you to everyone for engaging on this thread; I really appreciate the time and critique.

I do find it fascinating who you apologize to depending on whether they are more senior to you or not. I see that neither Eric or I have also gotten such an apology. It says much about the priorities.
