Too white in authorship & that is not news to any in #medieval history I hope? But how much of this volume have you read since it was published last night I wonder. What is this judgment that "we do not talk to non-white people" based on? 1/2https://twitter.com/dorothyk98/status/1070692266426146816 …

If the two major projects in the Global Middle Ages centers around the work of BIWOC, explain again how exactly this is a good optic to have an entire network of white medievalists (apparently there are no BIPOC in area studies) and 1 token Asian scholar?

This is not about
#areastudies (which is itself part of the problem) ; it is about medieval history and diversifying that field, in this case esp in Europe.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

And so, by diversifying the field, they are going to include almost an entirely white panel in their network. I am waiting to see how that is diversifying because it pretty much does not do that.

Welcome to the field of non-European medieval history in anglophone Europe! And try to change it!

And on top of that, refuse to address the ongoing discussions that have been happening for several years now by the .25-.75% of BIPOC in medieval studies who have been doing the labor of pushing the field to change. So, we have to do the "labor" of this white field all the time?
