If you need another reason, Duluth is home to one of the best railroad museums in the US, the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. They've got a great steam collection, including a Missabe 2-8-8-4.

duluth is a lot. i lived there for six years and the boom it's currently going through coupled with its roots coupled with competing interests of civic vs corporate vs preservationist, it's such a great mess of a wonderful city

do we want to talk about how the largest Goodwill store in the city is also attached to the local Goodwill corp HQ, and is also out in the middle of an industrial shipping district far removed from any commercial or residential areas?

or maybe about how in 2012 a massive rainstorm created an unbelievable amount of runoff that caused a city built on the side of a hill (whose residents always smugly ignored flood insurance because, you know, hill) flooded horribly collapsing major city streets for miles
