Right, that's where he should prioritize the DA's resources to prosecute. People should pay a price for killing someone.

Neil, I'm not okay with SF residents getting broken into over and over again - it's not okay and it's not normal. Or how about the poor woman yesterday who was assaulted and her dog stolen?

I feel for any victim of any crime and when it happened to me, I was livid in the moment. I know how that feels. Assault is violence and I fully expect him to prosecute and I hope he does.

So you don't think breaking into a garage or into a car and stealing property should be prosecuted?

I'll play devil's advocate on this one: No, but yes, if there is *violence* towards a human or animal (pet). Breaking in and stealing, in and of itself is not violence. I am for prioritizing violent crimes - the qualifier is important IMHO.

You don't need to play anything. And I don't get "prioritizing". All crime needs to be investigated, arrested, prosecuted, an sentenced. That is how you keep order in a civilized society. Otherwise, I guarantee, crime will continue and rise - like you're seeing now.

Do you think petty thefts should receive the same attention as homicides? Insisting that theft is violence is a way to get there, maybe. Did you know prosecutors have discretion over whom they charge? Sometimes they don't charge anyone! Do you want them to be forced to?

Why is investigating crime a zero-sum game? Of course homicides are more serious, doesn't mean theft or breaking into a home shouldn't be investigated. Criminals steal dogs and then yesterday criminals beat a woman and store her dog- this is what happens if you don't prosecute.

The very-obviously-unobjective article you posted titled, "The Killer D.A.", points out that police are already overstretched and nonresponsive, although it attempts to blame police "cynicism" & "callousness" firmly on Chesa Boudin, lol.

Bonus: This ghoulish claim: "How, exactly, does incarceration make us less safe? Less just or less compassionate, perhaps a case can be made." It admits more incarceration may be unjust - but safety is paramount! The writer thinks safety is more important than justice. Objective!
