There was an article about fake books being used for money laundering a couple years ago https://krebsonsecurity.com/2018/02/money-laundering-via-author-impersonation-on-amazon/ … In those cases much more absurd prices were set for the books, but I guess it's possible these books exist partially as a more subtle version of that.
