Ha, I called this. I'd seen two clips from two different people of horses just spontaneously self-combusting, and they both seemed to be in a similar looking location. Guess there's just a haunted road that causes horse fires.https://twitter.com/verge/status/1058020505972805632 …

Dammit, they can’t even stay committed to their own high minded ideals of realism at the cost of everything else...! Stuff like Bigfoot and aliens in GTA felt somewhat justified at least by the thin veneeer of South Park style social parody but this isn’t even telegraphed...

I'm 99% certain this is just a bug. Someone deleted a campfire or something but forgot to remove the invisible 'fire' property from the small patch of land.

I dunno, the worst of the gameplay hiccups we’ve seen so far has revolved predominantly around cinematic mode. I mean, you’re telling me that none of the producers involved had enough whipping canes in those 8 years of crunch time to iron out an invisible fire? 🤔🤔🤔

It is out in the middle of nowhere and only seems to activate sometimes, and mostly when slow moving NPCs are touching it Exactly the kind of thing that testers can miss, especially as it's, y'know, invisible.
