We would like to invite everyone to a NixOS MiniCon 22-23 of February. NixOS is a distribution that focuses heavily on reproducible builds and atomic upgrades/rollbacks Full program here:

Being in Asia I find it there still so many opportunities for remote work market. I'd build containers with skype rooms and place them around coffee shops. Find, book and unlock one with an app. Price would be marignal to what the coworking places charge here. All automated.

The most annoying bug in Haskell is that Text buffers line and newline separately, so the output gets grambled even with LineBuffering. I've looked into fixing that but oh boy.

While you were out partying, I was making a Marcus Aurelius from concrete in my basement. The joke’s on you.

Cachix is moving to new infrastructure tomorrow (29th January). More details to follow in a blog post after the migration! Expected downtime is 1h starting at 2am UTC. In case you'll be getting "file too big" errors, make sure to upgrade to Cachix client 0.3.5

Being on 4G internet in Siargao Philippines and getting ~2mbps makes me really excited about Starlink. Digital nomading will explode after internet goes to working conditions in remote places like this.

One of the biggest fallacies we make as developers is that our knowledge and work is more valuable than using an alternative, for example a tool. Sunk cost fallacy.

I am glad I was introduced to cachix as I got seriously into Haskell, or I think I'd have given up early.

No one knew what was wrong at first. This batch job had never, ever crashed before, as far as anyone remembered or had logs for. The person who originally wrote it had been dead for at least 15 years, and in any case hadn't been employed by the firm for decades.

Mozilla just laid off 70 fantastic people. If you can help them - open positions, offering helpful conversations and references, anything else - please say so. Use as an umbrella tag for easy finding. Most of all: thank you folks for making the web better.
