The FL House's Civil Justice Subcommittee just unanimously approved HB 903 to reform FL's driver’s license suspension policies. Two million Floridians (1 in 8 drivers!) have a suspended license. FFJC's testified — here's our press statement:

I'm still wading through this bill and coming up with an analysis, but one thing I can say: Most people participating in medical, food and cash assistance work, but are underpaid to the point that they qualify for these benefits.

Up to now, state law barred anyone with a felony conviction from serving on a jury. This effectively silenced communities of color & prevented many from being tried by a jury of their peers. This new law is a great step towards reform.

appears "no consequences" is how some critics of New York bail reform are describing the new system, as if being arrested & charged with a crime & required to return for a court date (or risk arrest for that) & whatever then results is...nothing?

Work reporting requirements for SNAP are cruel to people who can’t work, a burden for those who do, and an insult to those who can’t find work. Above all: Food is a human right. No one in America should be going hungry. That’s why I won’t just defend SNAP. I’ll expand it.
