@jessesingal Focusing on transition instead of my coursework bc I was obsessed with being like my male peers/passing essentially led to me dropping out because my anxiety & dysphoria spiked so much I couldn’t focus on my future anymore. Now that I’m detransitioned, I WANT college

@jessesingal my parents have made mistakes in raising me but ultimately they weren’t wrong when they couldn’t understand why their bright tomboy daughter suddenly made her entire life about becoming a boy and being “trapped in the wrong body”.

@jessesingal I think your analysis just fails to grasp how seriously internet culture, misogyny, internalized homophobia, trauma, etc. can impact a young person (esp women)’s mental state & self-perception. Prior to ROGD, the common social contagions in my circles were EDs

@jessesingal i’m sure there are people out there who genuinely benefit from transition after rapidly experiencing dysphoria but we don’t have long-term data. What we do know is that there are many health risks in transitioning that are never adequately described.

@jessesingal I don’t think it’s ridiculous for a parent to be concerned when there’s serious health risks involved, no promise that transition makes dysphoria better, and they know their child has a history of anxiety/depression/etc. If anything, it’s extremely compassionate.

@jessesingal if I was allowed to transition as soon as I discovered trans identity (in the hardest time of my life, mind you) at age 16 I would be radically fucked up right now. If I got a double mastectomy as much as I wanted 4 years ago, I’d be really fucked up.

@jessesingal I’m already fucked up over the effects of T after being on it for a year. I never thought it’d affect me as much as it did because the rhetoric around how ~*beautiful*~ transitioning in the moment is fails to account for what it looks like years down the line.

@jessesingal And to suggest seeing a gender therapist is the best way to go is a bad take. Gender therapists only are a formality for affirmation & subsequent referral for HRT/SRS which only fuels the copious amounts of money pharmaceutical companies & clinics make off trans ppl.

@jessesingal prior to detransition, I saw a therapist at my city’s LGBT center and discussed my pains in transitioning for 8 months but all she did was affirm me - I didn’t want to be affirmed, I wanted to work through why transition wasn’t making me happy.

@jessesingal Instead I just got “well you can still be a man without being on T :)” which is radically unhelpful. Finding an objective, trauma-informed therapist has been life-changing!! I feel stronger & healthier than ever after finding someone who will listen to & challenge me

@jessesingal so basically... I get that you frequently have TRAs on your ass that pressure you to protect them via every “transition isn’t bad for everyone” tweet but the people actually hurt from this system see you too. Don’t let the cult influence your reality.

@jessesingal and just to clarify I understand my personal experience isn’t universal but every detransitioner or desister I’ve connected with in the past year has shared a similar experience, esp if they believe they have gone through ROGD. Transition is a social crisis.

@jessesingal and transwomen are men who have transition easier than anyone else. quoting transwomen who are doctors literally proved the point that transition is a capitalist scheme that ignorant people buy into & push, subconsciously or overtly, onto the masses.

@jessesingal the place that prescribed me my T had transwomen working there and the nurse I spoke to was nonbinary. And yknow... bc of that prescription, my whole life was fucked up for a year. I don’t trust trans people in charge of HRT, that’s such a bad biased way to practice.

@jessesingal quoting transwomen has legitimately no real place here when they can’t have an unbiased view of transition being good or bad. When I vehemently identified as trans, I got told by transwomen 24/7 I’d never be a real man. But that they’re somehow valid???

@jessesingal it’s literally misogyny rebranded as something woke. transwomen think of themselves as “upgrading into the person they should be” but transmen are just kidding themselves. so maybe I don’t trust someone who once had a penis saying HRT won’t ruin my female body

Says a cultist. No one told you to transition. No one forced you to transition. You controlled every single aspect. How is it other peoples fault? I mean really. You a& Hasci, you did yourself.13 years. You think it takes that long to find out you are not trans?
