    This has been true about nearly every major issue of my lifetime. Environmental catastrophe, endless war, dismantled civil rights, the consequences of eroding the social welfare system. Verdict: The alarmists were right. Everyone who said stop being hysterical were wrong.

    This is b/c nationally it is a losing issue. Abortion is popular. The GOP can use it to drive turnout among certain groups, but it has limited cross-over appeal. Democrats should do everything in their power to use this to their advantage.

    One notable thing about the Texas six week abortion ban is how quiet the National Republicans are about it. As far as I can tell neither Abbot, nor Cronyn, nor Cruz have mentioned it on their Twitter feeds (only one minor metric, but still)

    The Schuylkill River hasnt been this high since 1869. Climate change is here and its not just hurricanes in the South or fires in the West. We need to act accordingly.

    I believe Roberts wassincere here and I have don’t doubt he tried to persuade Kavanaugh. But his motivation wasn’t to protect women’s rights. It was to protect the GOP. This is bad politics for Republicans.

    Everyone knows that the Supreme Court could have just followed the path Roberts suggested - stay the Texas law until the procedural question could be figured out. It could have even been a temporary stay. The 5 justices who rejected that approach know what they’re doing.
