  2. So embarrassing. Hope these kids can make it and our government can help them. They are the future of our country.

As for the Warburg effect, I think we should also talk about "oncometabolites" Is Lactate an Oncometabolite? Evidence Supporting a Role for Lactate in the Regulation of Transcriptional Activity of Cancer-Related Genes in MCF7 Breast Cancer Cells

Speaking from ignorance in virology & epidemiology but something related to Coronavirus seems odd. There are ~20,000 cases w/ ~500 deaths. Flu season in the US lasts ~5 months & kills ~55,000 people, so ~330 deaths/day....Why Coronavirus seems much more serious? Anyone can help?

3/3 We've just published this paper where we are starting to prove our hypothesis. We've shown that lactate is key regulator of all main genes involved in breast cancer (oncometabolite). Now we're replicating the study in different tumors w/ similar results

2/3 Based on our knowledge of muscle bioenergetics, we published in 2017 a hypothesis where we believe to explain for 1st time the Warburg Effect in Cancer where the main purpose is to produce lactate as a signaling molecule for carcinogenesis purposes

1/3 In the field of exercise metabolism & bioenergetics, aerobic glycolysis has been subject of tremendous work & deep understanding for the past 40-50 years. Finally, after being buried for 40-50 years by Cancer research, the Warburg Effect, is coming back to Cancer arena!...

Otto Warburg was the biggest Badass. This is his grant proposal ~1921: "I request 10 000 Marks" In 1923 he made one of the most significant discoveries in cancer history: The Warburg Effect; buried & forgotten by cancer research for decades. 97 years later everyone talks about it

When I defended my PhD on at the end of 2019 1) I had to go out of my way to explain why coronaviruses were important 2) someone asked if I really thought another coronavirus would emerge It’s crazy how fast things are changing with

It is still a common thought that mitochondria are individual organelles. However, they are interconnected in a network called Mitochondrial Reticulum. This was observed already in 1978 by Bakeeva & colleagues. This is a great recent article
