    Breaking/ just tried to ban certain national newspapers from a Number 10 briefing. This is truly sinister stuff. Hats off to the BBC, ITV, Mail, Telegraph & Times for walking out too in protest, rather than let him get away with it.

    Ten years ago today, The Lancet retracted Andrew Wakefield’s fraudulent 1998 article claiming the MMR vaccine caused autism. He performed procedures on children unethically, paid kids at a birthday party to give him blood samples, and doctored data. He still claims he was right.

    I have been reading a wonderful book about life & death by Rachel Clarke Dear Life. She is a palliative care doctor, so you would think it depressing but it is exhilarating. A great work of literature. Think Anatomy of Melancholy, or Oliver Sachs.

    I listened to the audiobook version of 's latest, , from 7.30 last night until well into the late early hours this morning. I was gripped. She relates the stories, from both her work & personal life with such insight, wit & compassion, making death human.

    Dear Life, written by Rachel Clarke must be read by every health care professional. It's coming up to fifty years since I first stepped into a hospice as a 16 year old volunteer. I love this book. Every page is eloquent moving and centred around kindness
