❤️❤️❤️ 89. If you think it’s probably not SELinux, it could be SELinux. And, you want to trust your permissive policy, but probably shouldn’t. 90. If you’re using a python script to text a pager to back up your flaky monitoring system, people WILL assume you’re dealing drugs.

From a friend’s private account, posted with permission: “One of the best things I did recently was to use TextExpander to store words that I could use instead of ableist terms like id**t or st*p*d.”

Talking about systemic racism is hard. Americans would rather do literally anything else. We've spent more time talking about the caucus app, and how to fix it... Than we've spent talking about the fact that the Iowa caucus itself is irredeemably racist, and how to fix that.

Why does it take me so long to write a blog post? Because the only ones I ever read are meaty, useful ones that TEACH ME to DO STUFF. I’m not lettin’ folks down!

Used the black and white color filter for a month. I like it! Is this why I’m bad at twitter?

No, not like that. Like, why roll back when you can roll forward to the desired state plus the patch.

I noticed at that “rollback” has become a dirty word. Discuss

Infra is everything Ops touches. Used to be delivery and SRE of the environments your code lands in. Still is, but immutable infra has evolved the Systems team into a Devops team who automates all that and access to it.

There’s also the toolset that helps you reliably get your code to prod; the glue of your SDLC is infra

Kelsey talking about configuration as data again. One point he made that I'm increasingly emphasizing: "But when you move to infrastructure as data, we can have these high-level APIs." IaD:IaC is analogous to APIs:scripts. It gives you a surface to manipulate, not just execute
