Honored to serve on the boards of two of these great organizations: and . We're strongest when we're in coalition with others, and in partnership with great elected leadership like Rep. Bateman.

NEW: Feedback on what to do with a final two block stretch of Bell Street overwhelmingly pushed the city to rethink vehicle access and turn the space over to people walking, biking, and rolling. That feedback has largely been set aside.

It's *achingly* basic: 1. Don't expect people to move into transit if it means sacrificing reliability, enjoyment, and speed. 2. Construction delays are more quickly forgiven if existing product is stellar and future vision is clear and compelling. PRIORITIZE RIDER EXPERIENCE.

Thank you ! This survey makes it clear: we must boost transit service if we want to restore ridership! I am committed to working with community to bring a funding package forward for increased service to connect all our communities to fast, reliable transit. Let’s go!

The House is worried the TOD bill might provide a little bit *too* much TOD.
Quote Tweet
A striker for SB 5466, WA's TOD bill, in the House housing committee would reduce the applicability of the bill around frequent local bus routes, with 15 minute service, to an eighth of a mile. In the version the senate passed, this was a half mile and 20 minute service.

The cognitive dissonance of people is kind of astounding. This was such a major concern around eliminating the 99 viaduct and the warnings of a "carmageddon." And what happened? Nothing. Everyone was fine. Traffic didn't get worse. Put the stations WHERE. PEOPLE. WANT. TO. BE.

Most commenters in favor of Terry Ave are using the argument that Westlake and Denny is too important of a place to disrupt with light rail station construction, instead apparently arguing that riders should be forced to walk up a huge hill away from north-south buses.

Very foreboding as today the Sound Transit Board, in the dark about many issues, prepares to gut ST3 and worsen the rider experience for thousands of riders.

But zoom out to see the absurdity of Sound Transit's plan. We'll be 116 miles into building a light rail system with: 0⃣ stations in First Hill, Belltown, or DT Tacoma 1⃣ station in Capitol Hill 1⃣ station in Ballard 4⃣ stations in SoDo, for some reason.

King County would retain land ownership, which means no equitable Transit-Oriented Development (eTOD) reqs like ST surplus land has. #st3 #JailStation

The anticipated letter of intent just got posted. No financial details. It explains a strategy for the county to donate land parcels, while Sound Transit assures county-desired features such as walkways, housing, ADA access and/or underground parking. soundtransit.org/st_sharepoint/

This puts it succinctly. North of CID is too far to be a good transfer station. Too close to expand service area. Yet is forging ahead to pick it tomorrow anyway.
Quote Tweet
To underline the absurdity of station placement of North of CID at the Admin Bldg, the distance is both too long to be considered a good transfer hub and too close to provide any new station coverage downtown. Also, no multi-transit hub. (Original video 3min 20sec)

The Urbanist editorial board’s take: @SoundTransit and its board have failed to show their work. They haven't explained themselves and brought the community along. They're simply not ready to come to a final CID Station decision. Op-ed: theurbanist.org/2023/03/21/edi

The CID station on Line 1 is so vital! It keeps the CID directly connected to the south, it keeps South Seattle connected to the CID, and it keeps the region directly connected to King St Station and Sounder rail! THESE CONNECTIONS ARE VITAL!🧡 1/
