In the 1950s there was ONE billionaire in the world and he was a pauper by today's standards. There's been a huge transfer of wealth and anyone with half a brain can figure out where it came from. Effective or whatever.

I find it astonishing anyone would first admit “ Yeah, whatever, I can’t read the story”, then proceed to grumble about details. Really care about credibility? READ a story, THEN Comment. To do otherwise is just whining, isn’t it?

Ah, I see now. The claim itself was that no one "paid" those rates. They may have been charged those rates but due to the tax loopholes and deductions, the physical money never came out of their pockets. Gotcha.

Marginal tax rates are not a "loophole." That's the way the system works. Also, if you're part of the bottom ~48% of earners, you don't pay any taxes, so you definitely didn't "tighten your belt."

JFK only reduced them to about 60% . And even at ,70% the 1% richest ppl lived like Kings. I think this 20% tax on the wealthiest is criminal!
