It's a hard business, to be a technologist and at the same time to care *deeply* about art.

At the risk of interrupting my grand mope, it occurs to me, watching #Avenue5 that Hugh Laurie, being well acquainted with the rhythm of Wodehouse, is now of an age to be a *BRILLIANT* Uncle Fred.

Good morning (and *blargh* says I.) I think I've actually worked out one of the motive forces that makes me create art! As a software developer, my professional work is completely transient - it *SHOULD* be superseded by those who come after me! But the art I make *LASTS*.

A melancholy nocturnal thought. I spent the best part of a decade as the global webmaster for a major in-vitro diagnostics product. All of that work - gone. As far as that company is concerned - I no longer exist. Life is transient. We must learn to carry on.
