Sci-fi is rife with such stories: "The Omega Man," "Star Trek (TOS): Miri," "The Andromeda Strain," et al.! Nothing new, here, except for the money factor, which, as far as I can tell, is not based on reality, so, IMsnHO, it is much ado about nothing.
