My Uber driver on Thursday grew up in Cambodia and escaped the Khmer Rouge massacre. He watched his parents get killed in front of his eyes. He tried to escape with eight other children. Only three of them made it: himself at age 17, a friend at age 22 or so, and a 13-year-old.
