    This argument assumes: If X is studied at Harvard then X is happening in the real world. Topics studied at Harvard include: witchcraft, world peace, nuclear war, and interstellar travel. Most (all?) of these are not happening now. Please rethink.

    3/4 The sundarbans mangrove forest (worlds largest) helps protect Gabura, but it's hard to see how it can survive even 0.5 m more sea level plus a big cyclone. If sundarbans go we loose a natural wonder and folks like Amazing loose protection from cyclones

    Thanks! in "How much bulk energy storage is needed to decarbonize electricity?" we find (a) that bats are *long* way from being cost effective for deep decarb of electricity, and (b) there are other ways to to very low carbon intensity.

    Nordhaus not "remotely realistic". Maybe. Virtue of DICE is simplicity & transparency. Nordhaus is serious about updating damage func with empirical data. But unitary utilitarian view is a woefully small window into climate policy. Page from my book

    Early light this morning at 's old blue barn. Our team just realized that we were slightly understating the performance of our commercial plant because we had assumed 400 ppm, and average over plant life is more likely >420. Funny and scary.

    Not so. launching satellites requires a license. The power of those licenses ultimately derives from the outer space treaty (see beautiful opening text below ). I agree billionaires have too much power but don't let our elected representatives off the hook.

    Exactly. nails it. Most CDR needs national-level governance that's integrated with mitigation. The uncritical talk or need for global governance driven by unrealism if 1.5 scenarios. Focus on emissions cuts and build CDR into national net emissions policy

    Great Q. There's a phase diagram for that in our Carbon Neutral Hydrocarbons paper . Number are wrong the the tradeoffs are right. At low-oil and high-solar prices and offsets win, but as solar gets cheaper air-to-fuels will win

    3/3 I am *so* proud of @CarbonEngineering, but.. This is NOT about one company. It’s about an energy pathway that could grow to >10% of global primary energy before mid-century, allowing intermittent solar energy to energize heavy transport and other hard-to-decarbonize sectors.
