I mean, the list of species that went extinct after the pyramids were built isn't particularly small or even remotely comprehensive.

Not really the point. It’s that our shared understanding of history doesn’t really consider “mammoths” and “Egyptian pyramids” to coincide in any way.

Sure, but it doesn't really consider pre-colonization realities either. Studying, say, Mayan history, is really more of a curiosity to me than actually a means to understanding where my culture comes from, as opposed to, yes, Egyptian Pyramids.
