His linguistics seemed to check out to me at least. They were earlier ostracized from Judaism, then the canonization more or less dulled it.

The origins of Islam are fairly well-attested. John Allegro is fun to read but his scholarship was lacking in his later work

I studied linguistics before I read Allegro. From that vantage, it seemed like it checked out using reconstructive linguistic techniques.
