I love the blog too, but his schtick is kinda "redefine narcissism as 'pathologies everyone has' instead of its clinical definition" Which is an effective rhetorical device but doesn't translate particularly well outside of the context of the blog

I'd say there's a fair amount of filtering going on in that description. Alone's thesis is a multi-generational narcissism. He argues that what we consider normal is colored by an epidemic pathology.

Sure, but that doesn't transfer well beyond the blog either. My basic point is that his definition of "narcissist" differs from both the lay definition and especially the clinical one
