To dismiss the diverse thinkers of the Intellectual Dark Web out of hand is to reveal that you yourself are not a thinker, but most likely a devout tribesman who allows others to decide which ideas are "safe" for you to contemplate

my thing with the IDW is that their branding and aesthetics are cringey. "intellectual dark web" is a dumb thing for a bunch of YouTubers and podcasters with large audiences to call themselves, regardless of the merit of their ideas

it's weird because usually when a silly brand is foisted on you by someone else (in this case wasn't it some newspaper or blog?) then the cool and good thing to do is to own it in a sort of ironic way lol

now that i think about it, i probably just dislike the IDW because they're incapable of irony or humour. i feel like they should at least meet up and dress as evil warlocks as a joke. like when cory doctorow wore that red cape, or St Ignucius

we call ourselves "postrationalists" and "the ingroup" the latter of which is incredibly cringey and also vague but more accurate since not everyone involved is a postrat

isn't the real shibboleth "ingroup"? the article drop is an important part of the aesthetic
