I've finally realized that American left culture has basically become mental illness, or possibly some form of religious hysteria. The right was that way for years, but now the left has succumbed. I fear this may be environmental toxicity. Like Rome was done in by lead poisoning

There's a rational branch of the American right. Not nice people, but get things done. George Bush the First, for example, looks pretty good given the alternatives these days. But my god these lefties. I've never seen aggressive hostile stupid like it. They're the Red Brigades.

The clear implication is that civil discourse is not coming back to America, and that this ends with brigades of idiots mowing each other down in the streets while the nerds ane barricaded in corporate headquarters, trying to stop the food supply chain from collapsing.

We are literally going to have to lift the entire technosphere out of reach of these idiots. There's no way we can make the turns planetary civilization has to make to survive with idiots like these in the decision loop. I now fully understand neoreaction.

I will grant that it is a witty and cutting observation with a big grain of truth, sure. But it doesn't deliver all that much analytical mileage.

Correctly explaining the entire cluster of "wait this looks like religious behavior" and assigning it to clade is low mileage? It's crucial.

It's a very old observation.
