Recently started using the maildev package for work. Setup was quick enough and has made working with local emails really nice. Great work ! 👏 📦

This was a massive technical endeavor which led us through at the end of last week. Excited to have migrated to Atlas and to be upgrading our systems! Take a read of the details in this thread from Dan:

Overall, I'm stoked about the move and we're getting ready to prep our next move to Mongo 3.6 soon and to 4.0 in the weeks/months after that!

We've also changed from running 2 dedicated instances for mongos to running a mongos on every cluster replica which means we have 9 now. I say "we're running," but for full disclosure this db is hosted on 's Atlas platform 😉

We also shrunk from 8 shards on shared instances to 3 shards on dedicated instances which has performed wonderfully so far.

The move from MMAPv1 to WiredTiger has definitely made our queues disappear. Previously we were regularly seeing huge spikes of queued reads and writes in the 100s and now we're seeing everything happily hover around 0.

We migrated 's main production database 1 week ago for the first time in years while simultaneously jumping from Mongo 2.4 to 3.4. We've seen a 70% reduction in disk usage now w/ WiredTiger and solid performance gains as one might assume 😁 4TB 🗜️➡️ 1.2TB

Some Buffer company news to share: We've spent $3.3 million buying out our main VC investors. This is something I've been eager (and nervous) to share publicly. Here are all the details, including process and numbers.

Fun fact: has generated over $50m in total revenue (since late 2010). What I find even more interesting, is to contrast that number with the funding we've raised: $4m. I'm grateful for our investors, they helped us a lot. But we'd be nowhere without our customers.

To any founder going through a hard time, now or in the future: I’m happy to chat and be a sounding board. Things I’ve struggled through: doing layoffs, co-founder issues, unhappy investors, a security breach… I wish I’d asked for help more. I want to encourage it. Talk soon!

Anyone have interesting workflows for reducing the cold sales email noise in your inbox? I use Gmail filters w/ an auto-archive, but I feel I'm updating my mega filter twice or more a day. Any way to opt out completely from services like or ?

Switched back to Gmail for work from Google Inbox for the last two years. I'm already feeling more on top of things. Two things Inbox still does better: filters and bundling/grouping. Hoping Gmail gains some of that in the future.
