I stayed away from this #bullyhunters trend despite being contacted by multiple people because the campaign was so vague and confusing. I'd advise everyone to do their due diligence before blindly sharing these sorts of projects.
For the record, please don't take my dislike for this campaign as a means to attack individuals who are involved in it. I think the #bullyhunters campaign came from good intentions which got lost along the way.
Women in gaming are sometimes treated differently based on their gender, especially on Twitch and I think those involved wanted to do something against that. I think it was just handled poorly and wasn't well enough thought out.
So, that being said, let's make an effort to be nicer to our fellow peers in gaming. Gaming has been a massive escapism in my life that I used to deal with the bullying and tormenting I received growing up, so let's try not to drag down our gamespace with that hate.
There were no good intentions from the nonprofits, marketing agencies, and corporate sponsors. We now have those people claiming higherups in Valve Ok'ed usage of CSGO footage. how about using your clout to call out Valve for this insult to basic civics and their customer base?
