Okay so update. Sending back a broken piece of equipment and ordering in a new piece. Also looking into getting my dslr set up as camera. I plan to have a short stream in a couple hours. Sorry to keep you all waiting.

I wouldn't recommend using a DSLR as a webcam since having the shutter open for too long seriously damages it.
