did you rip out your drive without doing the eject thing or were they on your internal disk? .. dont know how to save them though. just curious

it's simple but try running (on a CMD window with admin privileges) chkdsk x: /f /r (replace the x with your hard drive letter) it usually fixes simple errors

Assuming it's a Western Digital HDD, try running the WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics on it. Might tell you what's wrong with it or repair the issue with the Extended Test. No, not before making an image of the disk if possible.. recovery software might destroy the data even more than it is..
