Idk but after some dude shot a gun on stream everyone and their grandma are posting pics of their guns on Twitter and I'm just ???? Idk but I just find this so uncomfortable. So glad I live in the UK.

You may find it uncomfortable BECAUSE you live in the UK where it is so uncommon. If you lived in the states and grew up knowing they firearms were legal (and regulated despite what you see from your side of the pond) then I suspect you'd have a different feeling.

You are correct to doubt it. Plenty of people right here in the US see no need for civilians to own weapons of mass casualty.

A knife can be (and has been) a weapon of mass casualty. Those who "see no need" simply haven't or chose not to educate and understand why Americans value firearms. Not that you have to agree, but some understanding would make the sight of a weapon much less "uncomfortable".
