The straw ban is dumb and hurts disabled people who genuinely need them. If you want to save the damn oceans, STOP EATING FISH. Most of the plastic in the ocean is from discarded fishing nets

Metal and paper straws don't bend, and metal straws are not safe if you have seizures or tics etc. I just hope that disabled people are able to get hold of a plastic straw when they need to :(
There are both metal and paper bendy straws! They're a little more tricky to find, but they do exist. Otherwise, is there not a permanent plastic solution that you could look for, one that isn't just thrown out?

I'm told by disabled friends that use them that they are super difficult to clean which is dangerous for people with a weakened immune system
I don't personally need a straw but I know plenty of people that do and have issues with the alternatives! -
