Streamers/Influencers: You're unwittingly hurting yourself by calling yourself a variety streamer. What you think it means: "I play games other than Fortnite/Apex" What it means to PR/CMs: "Streamer hasn't found their audience yet, and isn't consistent with what they play."

PR are looking to work with you because you're an ambassador for the genre of game they they're promoting to your audience. If you're not branding yourself correctly as a "shooter expert" or "roguelike chick" then why do you expect others to view you as such?

Yes, branding yourself within the confines of a specific game or genre will limit potential opportunities, but the pros far outweigh the cons. Not only will PR/CMs know who are you are what you represent, but you'll have a distinct brand for your community too.

Basically, when PR are reaching out to influencers, they're utilizing them as vehicles to get their game in front of specific audiences that have higher percentage chance of resonating. (generally speaking) No one wants to watch Shroud play a strategy game.

Cultivate your brand, cultivate your audience, and others will view you as such. Saying that you're a variety streamer, or jack of all trades has the connotation that you're good at nothing, but dabble in everything.

Obviously this is advice more catered to smaller channels than larger established ones. @Diction made the good point of saying that he built himself as a variety streamer. Just because those doors were opened in the past doesn't mean that they continue to be open now.
