Technique review was on back escapes today. Interesting going through them feeling like I have responses from all the back control work. Refined some handfighting and tested out the previous omoplata bullshit, which remains surprisingly good for a youtube technique.

Really fun fluid rolling today after some sneaky ways to maintain side control. Tried out some youtube omoplata bullshit (which worked surprisingly well) then resumed hunting the back. Working on the straightjacket more. Great rolls with the purple crew, all technical and shit ;)

I've been keeping a mint boxed copy of The Tainted, it's a rare physical release from a South African studio in 1999. Found it at a flea market 17 years ago... Keep it as history and a visceral reminder of what not to do. There's a lot behind the scenes.

Back on the mat yesterday, helped some new blue belts relax and float a bit more in mount. Had to do a lot of work to get to the back in rolling - started from under mount every time - but worked on the straightjacket a little. Really big class.

Midday class continues to be really great practice and theory time. Worked on back controls, formalized a lot of what I've been doing the last few months. Got a variation on straight-jacket control that I have to play with more, locked up BOTH arms, probs too good to be true ;)

Mount escape practice, did off-the-wall rotations, if you escaped mount or submitted from mount, you stayed on. Didn't get the longest streak, but got good and tired! Brown belt friend was injured, he still facerolled me with one arm. It'd be nice to have that much in your game!

No gi mount control drills today. Partner had a good work rate, that was great! First time someone has tried to bolo me since I started working on it, defended and came out on top in the scramble. Watched hand-fighting vids on the weekend, made RNCs much easier to get to.
