oppression isn't fear. hate isn't a phobia. These word constructions - give oppressors an excuse - they're just "afraid" - tie phobias, which are an actual disability, to harmful behavior - make it harder for people with phobias to express themselves & be understood

when "phobia" is used to mean "hate", then "hate" becomes the first thing you think of when you see the word "phobia". "I have a phobia of Xyz", "I'm Xyz-phobic" starts to sound like "I'm making a conscious and harmful decision to dislike Xyz". this is bad.

some alternatives (not exhaustive): - use "-misia" instead of "-phobia", for example transmisia, transmisic - "anti-... bigotry" , e. g. anti-queer bigotry - use "-antagonism": trans-antagonism, trans-antagonistic - use the respective "ism": cissexism, heterosexism, racism
