it's actually a little worse than this cause of flights to IndieCade and some costs I didn't capture like gas, food during shows, etc. Also obviously lots of my (+others) time. coulda done better but I really think the way indie games are priced, physical retail is a non-starter

that said its been really interesting reaching out of my games bubble and I think this sort of face-to-face community outreach is hugely valuable; despite how big indies seem to us, many people genuinely don't know anything about the industry beyond what a few megacorps advertise

anyway my GDC talk about this was rejected, which is a bummer but not surprising. Financials aside, I think it's a good idea would probably make the industry better for everyone but what can ya do.
