Every single problem I had going to UC Davis *twenty years ago* was directly the result of being forced to rent an apartment after freshman year. Roommate drama, crazy landlord, etc.

The State should fire up all capacities of building lots of modern apartments. Housing is a basic human right. But for many hardworking people it’s unaffordable.

Signing a lease in February for a Sept. 1 move-in date has been standard in Davis since at least 2008 when I was there, but camping outside the leasing office is next level.
