There’s no reason to not keep both of them active. I find the Classic version better for certain aspects including its compatibility with TubeBuddy and VidIQ. Try listening to your creators instead of ignoring them.

We can't keep both bc Classic has lots of legacy code that increases the risk that things break & limits our ability to make improvements–many of our engineers don’t even code in Classic’s original coding language. We also shared your concerns about 3rd party tools w/ the team!

Well, I appreciate the response. If what you’re saying is true in that the Classic format is too difficult to maintain, it might be a good idea to publicly announce this fact to everyone who’s upset; a follow up tweet or something similar.
