    this is ridiculous originally this Horrid Blob of Megaohms was 75kΩ, ish. i added another Fistful of Megaohms to get down to 52kΩ throughout, the supply continuously re-regulated itself to around 3.5-3.6kV (measured across the leads right out've the supply) this brick ain't it

    Fluorine is one of those chemicals that can still terrify seasoned chemists. I can calmly handle strong acids and oxidisers, but any active fluorine species becomes nopium nopide.

    Accidentally stabbed my finger with a sewing needle, which generated enough adrenaline to briefly clear my sinuses. So I wondered about the similarities between pseudoephedrine and adrenaline, and found this lovely image 🤔

    Yep, I remember an inorganic lecturer who did, used to call "oxygen" dioxygen as a matter of course, didn't go so far as to say oxygen(II) oxide

    when my GF 35 years ago used to get HF on her skin from her IC process work AT Toshiba Semiconductor in Sunnyvale I would burn rubber from there to El Camino Hospital in MV to get her treated in the ER with the proper neutralizing cream to avoid neurological damage..

    one HF safety doc I read basically said 'print out copies of this treatment guide, keep them with your multiple copies of the HF MSDS, and when first responders show up, throw this at them. bring extras to the hospital too'

    I was asked to assist with a student (not in my lab) after a flask containing HF and SiF4 and Teflic acid blew up in her face. It was a horror show since the ER docs didn’t get the difference between HF and HCl. She’s fine but it was damm scary.
