Oh wait, is this session restore or the “clean up your profile” option?

If I understand correctly, the original reporter was prompted by Firefox to do a profile refresh and it failed to create a viable profile.

I'm 95% sure that a Refresh doesn't actually overwrite the old profile, so the data should still be there, but not used by default.

Refresh creates a backup on the desktop.

There's a situation where Firefox asks "Safe mode or Refresh". It's not very clear about the implications of Refresh.

There should be an "are you really sure" dialog explaining the full consequences and how to revert.

My problem was that there is *also* a "safe mode or regular" dialog and I thought it was that one and clicked through.

I also had to google to find out where my old profile went.

"Refresh" should probably be called something more descriptive

Yes, I was able to find my "Old Firefox Data" but since restoring it, I cannot browse any website - says connection not secure.

I really think the only way to know if it’s due to profile corruption or not is if we create a new profile and see if it happens there too.
