I was sad to see Flyweb go; there were a lot of neat possibilities. Some Flyweb folks were working on libdweb for a while; dunno if that's still active.https://github.com/mozilla/libdweb

No Flyweb folks worked on libdweb, but we did design the WebExtensions approach based on some of their feedback and experiences in going direct to a web platform API.

libdweb isn't very active, but Cliqz is shipping experimental DAT support in their Android browser usig it.
The purpose was mostly to enable experimentation - and that has happened in a few ways. But in the end, Firefox has to *want* these type of capabilities
