Something I both need to be better informed about and also never need to know is the energy cost of having 113 tabs open at the same time.

In Firefox, the about:performance page has a "Energy Impact" column where you can see the realtime consumption of open tabs. Ultimately it won't be about how many tabs you have (I have 1427!) but which ones are running, and which ones are doing lots of work.

I think it might be time for an intervention, because you don't have that many tabs open: Firefox does, and you have no idea what they are... right-click any tab, "select all tabs", then right-click and "bookmark tabs", and then shut down Firefox. Turn a fresh page.

Unfortunately it's not that simple. I am haunted by the broken metaphors strewn across browser user interface design. I hold on to my tabs as a reminder of the pain.

Remember panorama? I FINALLY found an alternative in
@WorkonaHQ! Can't imagine living without it now. Their Firefox extension is forthcoming at which point I'll feel whole again.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Interesting! Love to see big bets like this on extensions as unifying experience in ways browser vendors just won't.
