I don't run an adblocker. I'm happy to see ads if it pays the bills for websites I like. I just don't want my movements online tracked across websites and sold to anyone who wants it. I run

Adblocker is my shorthand for "thing that blocks user-hostile crap" not necessarily any type of advertising at all

Hm, I think the difference is important though. Identifying that difference is what helps us make clear the danger of surveillance vs the annoyance of ads. I get you though - maybe if we named them "Privacy, Fraud and Security Shield" instead of "Ad Blocker"...

yeah i think the landscape has evolved and its important for tools like AdBlockerPlus to understand exactly what the value they're trying to provide is, rather than just zealously blocking anything resembling an ad.
