In 2017, I tried to use IPFS to make a decentralized website. It didn't work out. Two years later, I gave it another shot.https://macwright.org/2019/06/08/ipfs-again.html …

Thanks for trying! I really appreciate the detailed write-up. The IPFS project de-prioritized web publishing for 2019, in favor of ecosystem plumbing support (eg pkg mgmt): https://blog.ipfs.io/78-ipfs-2019-roadmap/ … I joined for the web bit, so it'll come back into focus.

That said, much of these are known issues, and in progress. We'll use your workflow as an example publishing flow and check back against it.

Yeah, I link to the roadmap and think it's also a pretty useful goal. The website, documentation, and pitch still focus on the web and don't mention pkg management – so "expectation setting" for newcomers is way off. Maybe redesign & rewrite to reflect the current goals & reality

Thanks, that's great feedback. The reality will never really meet all the expectations - I certainly had magical thinking about IPFS before I joined the project earlier this year. But definitely agree - the current state and focus should be clearer at the front door.
