I seriously think we would get something like Nix. It's really one of those projects that answers the quesiton "What if we started all over from 0" which ironically seems to supersede the thing you are probably referring to here completely :P
Do you ever dream about what tools we would all have, beginners and others alike, if all that effort that is put into gaslighting, abuse, political power plays, racing to second-last, were put into the software itself?

For a start - not having C code as the basis for all of our dependencies.

And fixing high level abstractions rather than calling low level code for performance reasons.
