doesn't work for me, and I've spent a lot of time trying to help people who use it

What do you mean by it doesn't work? I'm using it personally and professionally since 2015. Could you amplify your statement ?

doesn't work for me. It tries to download and compile dependencies. It mostly doesn't succeed.

We must be doing very different things. You say it’s bad, doesn’t work, don’t use it—I believe you, it’s just opposite my experience. I’ve never encountered a single problem apart from missing nice-to-have features. I list deps, it downloads & builds them successfully every time.

Yeah, all it takes is one FFI dependency, completely independent from any defects Stack may have had. These discussions can get subtle. I can kind of appreciate your "concrete examples are a trap" argument... (though I'd hope you'd trust me more not to abuse that rhetorically).

As soon as this discussion becomes concrete, the argument ends. There's a reason we have all arrived at this conclusion :)
