GHC can be installed locally without stack. Been doing it for 15 years.

Right but I wouldn't have figured it out, my point is that beginners are deterred easily; I couldn't initially figure it out.

I've been teaching beginners for * years. I'm certain stack has never helped anyone. It's easy to make the mistake of believing otherwise.

If you, or anyone, can reliably demonstrate this process where stack benefits beginners, with an outcome better than what I already achieve without it… I swear, I will write the biggest apology, and jump ship immediately. You've no idea how revolutionary that would be for me.

That's a second argument, and a much ore difficult one to untangle. Simply, does it provide a "learning benefit" and if so, how? "But it worked for me" moves my needle by zero.
